I was raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. As the saying goes – “I wasn’t born in the South, but I got here as quick as I could.” And, yes, I say “Yes ma’am” and “No sir” and “Bless your heart.” I enjoy the beach, and my spirit finds its home in the mountains. North Carolina has both in abundance.
I lost my dear husband, Ken, to cancer in 2010. I still miss him deeply and credit him with helping me learn to love myself. I have two beautiful daughters, Michelle and Kristen, who make me proud every day. I have two wonderful sons-in-law, Andy and Johnathan, and five amazing grandsons. They are all the light of my life. I have also been abundantly blessed with two wonderful sisters, a brother-in-law, and a big bunch of amazing friends who all work hard to keep me sane.
I am an animal lover and share my home with three cats. I love movies and have a group of friends with whom I go to the theater almost every week. I am an avid reader. My favorite books fall in the categories of leadership, personal growth and inspiration. If Amazon gave frequent flier miles, I could probably go around the world a couple times. I love NFL Football and am a loyal Carolina Panthers fan. (My husband once said he married me because I would let him watch football three times on Sunday and every Monday night!) I also learned to love NHL Hockey (a newly acquired taste for a southern girl) cheering for the Carolina Hurricanes! My one shameful secret (whispered only behind closed doors here in ACC country) is that I’m not a basketball fan.
